Formula For Millionaires

Discover the Eact Formula for Creating Massive Wealth

Hello All.
I'm quite new to the whole forum thing, So if there is a certain way to do things please feel free to let me know.
I consider myself well on my way to achievement. I'm broke, I have very little time on my hands, I work with 2 guys that are very negative (and often bring me down), but I'm very motivated to become successful in the music business. I am going to buy a computer and start recording demo's for commercials. I'm happily married, and I have two wonderful, young and demanding children ages 2, & 5.
So here is where I need some helpful advise
I need to get away from the job I have, because of the negativity. The thought of getting another job is kind of nauseating to me. I know that I could be successful at freelance commercial writing, I feel that this could be a valuable service in today's economy (people need to advertise to get customers in there doors. I need a computer to get started (this computer wont do, I'm lucky to have e-mail on this thing) and a new computer (to fit my needs) will run about $2,500.00. The thought of financing it scares me (more so my wife who does the bills) but I don't know how else to come up with the money. Do I Take the leap and "spend money to make money" ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I'm very excited to join this discussion group. I'm looking forward to hearing from you, and getting to know you.
I'm eager to network, and talk to like minded people.
Sincerely
Joe

Dear Joe,

Your post is so negative.

I started my own business years ago. I vaguely remember being scared. It may have been the thought of having to depend on myself. Now, that kind of thinking seems foreign to me.

If I have any advice it would be - Do some inside work first.

HI Lane
Thanx for your advice. I can see why I sound so negative. I assume "inside work" means self development. I agree! And I'm doing so. I don't consider myself negative, just getting out of a negative situation. Yes I do have some uncertainty about what I'm going to do. These are big steps for me.
What type of business do you run?

Nice response Joe. I have a small construction business.

The negative people that you work with may be trying to steer you in another direction. Negative people have a lot to teach you.

I can appreciate the steps you have before you. Regardless of your decision you would be wise to conquer any emotion that does not serve you and your chosen goals. Don't throw good sense out the window.

Never give up and always move in the positive direction.

Hi Lane.
I'm in the construction business now. I like what I've learned, but I know it's just now my cup of tea. I am learning a lot from the negative people that I'm working for/with. learning about myself. Don't get me wrong these are good guys that I do like. We just have very different outlooks on life.
Could you elaborate on conquer emotions that do not serve me or my goals? Do you mean the negativity that I allow myself to feel?
Any suggested reading on this? And if you could suggest anything to read about starting a business?
Thanx for you time. I am enjoying this discussion,
Joe

I needed to go back and read your initial post. Joe - read your first paragraph and tell me if it seems a bit inconsistent.

Conquer emotions refers to your reference to being scared to finance your computer. But if you go into business for yourself you will have plenty of other emotions to deal with.

To me there is some boldness in your first post. However, you state that you are broke and have little time on your hands. It reminds me of when I tried to do too much and got nowhere but stressed out. One suggestion I would make is look for ways to save time, money and perhaps begin planting some seeds for the future. First, have you networked into the type or close to the type of business you want to pursue. Try co-operating with another artist. Many professionals are more than willing to share their experience with those who could even be competing for the same business.

I have worked in the corporate world, and I do not wish to work for another company again. I have never regreted starting a business even though I have worked much harder. I've truly enjoyed the experience. If there is a way to plan and plot your way into a career that you are passionate about then the answer is obvious. Too many people get settled into unfullfilling working for others and forget that it is possible to be passionate about work.

There are so many books out there it can be mind-boggling. I usually read books that will inspire me as opposed to inform me.

I am a bit curious about your music talents and how you came about the idea to create commercial demos. Can you really record on a computer?

Yes My first paragraph is a bit inconsistent. That's really just me trying to be quirky. I was really trying to get across that even though I'm in an undesirable situation with the job I do (people I work with), and my finances, I really have a great outlook to what my future is. I am very motivated to take some giant steps, and truly live. I read a lot of metaphysical type stuff like Wayne Dyer, James Ray. So I'm working on changing my mindset. I'm finding that's the biggest thing to having true success. More than financial. I know money wont make me happy, but what I do for a living will be a big part of happiness.

I have been networking with some people in the commercial bis. I'm looking to get an internship at a recording studio, or advertising agency.

I was a production manager for a bakery for about 4 yrs (worked there for 11 yrs) at one time I was responsible for about 50 people on 3 shifts. My life really sucked back then. So I can agree that I will never go back to the corporate world. Even though I'm not crazy about were I'm working now, its night and day difference.

I don't know what to say about my music talent. I've played for about 25yrs. I play Guitar, Bass Guitar, and a little piano & drums. I want to have a career as a musician, so I thought commercial music would be fun. Somebody has to write those things.
And yes. Recording on a computer is just about the only way to go nowadays. It really comes down to opinion (digital vs analog). but most studios are using computers to record.
Take care

Sounds like you have a lot going for you musically and experientually.

Although I have read many "metaphysical" books I have found the Abraham books by Esther and Jerry Hicks to be fairly concise and inspiring. What Abraham teaches I have experienced to some degree. I endeavor to continually improve.

Computers and the internet have truly revolutionized our lives and work. They are great tools. I have been considering doing something over the internet.

Well I guess you really can attract anything into your life. Abraham Hicks is Awesome! I've read Ask and it is Given. My wife has read all of there work. Yes I have learned a lot from them. I just wrote an intention card today stating "I am attracting people who are of like mind, and beneficial to my growth. I offer my service to them." I want to say again that I am really enjoying our conversations. You have been very helpful to me. Thank You.

Computers are fabulous. However, I have a lot to learn on them.

What type of thing are you looking to do over the internet? Whenever you decide I would love to be of some service if you wanted any music. No Charge. It would be my pleasure. Just something to think about. I do plan on writing music for web sites as part of my business. I'm really looking forward to doing spiritual/new age type stuff (like a meditative CD), But I truly love all music.

Take Care

Ask and it is Given was the first of the Hicks' books that I read. I've read it many times, but not completely each time. Good stuff. Do you guys have The Secret DVD?

Your welcome. I enjoy the dialogue as well.

I like working with wood and have thought of selling small wood objects over the net would be fun. I know there are many who do the same, but I feel I can offer something unique and interesting.

We do have The Secret. It's great. That's where I heard of James Ray. I'm reading his Harmonic Wealth now. I'm getting a lot out of it. I'm actually putting the lessons to practice, and this stuff really works. A few other DVDs (if you haven't already seen) are What the Bleep Do We Know?, and You Can Heal Your Life by Louis Hay. What The Bleep is pretty deep. more on the quantum physics end of things (a little over my head but still very good). And You Can Heal is excellent, a lot like the secret.

My Father does a lot of wood working, more Carving type stuff. I keep telling him to try selling his work, but he always has an excuse why he's too busy or something. What type of wood working do you do? I like that you want to do your thing even though it's been done. (although you can offer something different) Nothing is going to stop you is what I'm trying to say. I admire that in anybody.

Best
Joe

I'll have to try Harmonic Wealth by James Ray.

Yes, the woodworking. I mostly build structured things like cabinets and entertainment centers. I've often thought of doing carving as a creative outlet, but it's not a priority at this time. I try not to spread myself too thin now-a-days.

You can do anything you wish Joe. Believe you can do it while having a good income. No starving artist stuff. Create it your way.
